Abstract

Background and aim: Cesarean is a way to save the life of mother and baby during childbirth. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of core stability exercises on low back pain, lumbar lordosis and quality of life of women with a history of cesarean delivery.
Material and method: Study population consisted 20 to 30 year old women with a history of cesarean section who had spent at least 6 and at most 12 months since their cesarean section in Hajar Hospital in Shahrekord. 32 available samples were selected and randomly divided into experimental and control groups. Subjects completed the Quebec Questionnaire and the World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire and their lumbar lordosis was assessed by flexible ruler. Experimental group performed core stability exercises for 8 weeks three sessions per week and Control group did not exercise. participants were evaluated again by previous tests. Data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of covariance at a significance level of 0.05.
Results: Results showed that eight weeks of core stability exercises had a significant effect on reducing low back pain and improving the quality of life in women with a history of cesarean delivery (P <0.05), while it had no significant effect on reducing female lumbar lordosis (P> 0.05).
Conclousion: core stability exercises focusing on the lumbar-pelvic floor muscles reduce back pain and improve the quality of life of women with a history of cesarean section, so these exercises can be used in this regard.
